Cute Pictures

Darci is now 2 weeks old. She has already changed so much since she was born. She has been a really good baby. Here are some cute pictures of her.

Merrill making faces at her

She is always trying to suck on our hands when she can reach

Taking her medicine. She is so good when I give it to her. She'll actually stop crying when I put it in her mouth. I have her all wrapped up to keep her hands out of the way, and none of it seems to bother her.
The last couple nights, she has rolled over on her side when she sleeps. Its so cute.

Home at last!

Today was the big day. Darci was able to come home! She proved to the Doctor that she was healthy and could eat well! I was there all day yesterday and through the night to feed her so we could come home this morning. We are so happy she is doing so good and can finally be home with us. No more back and forth from the hospital!! Here are some pictures from this morning bringing her home.

3 Days Old

Here's the update on Darci. She is now 3 days old, and doing better. She is a tough little baby and she is working hard at getting better. Her infection is not a bad one, so the antibiotics that she has been taking will work great in getting her better. She has jaundice, so they've had her under the lights. So far the levels went up, so they doubled the lights and we can't go and hold her as often so that she stays under the lights as long as possible so that it gets better. Other than that, we are just working on getting her to eat well. So, once she proves to the doc that she can nurse great and the jaundice is gone, then we can take her home, hopefully by monday or tuesday.

This morning at the hospital with Grandma Larsen. She has a feeding tube in her nose, so that they can feed her everyday without messing up breast feeding.

Our little family! This was when she was 1 day old. We were all very tired!

Here she is

Well, we arrived at the hospital to be induced at 6 am on mon. The pitocin that they gave me to start labor took a while to start working, so they broke my water at 11:30 am, and started the epidural, then things started moving along. But, didn't want to keep moving, I would go about 4 hours before changes a few times. We were getting close to going in for a c-section, but i was moving along just enough that we kept going. I got an infection that started to show about 11 pm that we had to take care of, which also didn't help with the labor. Finally at about 3:15 I was ready to push. We had to have some assistance from the doc with the forceps, but then she finally came out at 3:38 am on tues. She weighs 7 pounds 15 ounces and is 19 inches long. And as you can see in the picture she has lots of dark hair. Since I had that infection with a fever, she came out with a fever as well, and was also breathing to fast, so they took her to the NICU. They got the fever under control and had started her on antibiotics. she also had a low blood sugar level, which they were able to take care of with no problmes. And she was a bit dehydrated, so they had to put her on IV. They had to put on a CPAP, which gave her oxygyn, they took it off after a bit, and kept her breathing monitered. It was still a bit high, but recently its started going down. Infact I got to hold her for a bit at the NICU and when she got in my arms her breathing went down to normal. And when the put her back in the little bed, it went back up. She loves her mommy!
They are keeping her in the NICU to keep an eye on her and make sure that everything stays under control. She may be there a couple days. I will keep updating as things change.
Here is a picture of me holding her.

Baby Update

Well, I will be 38 weeks on Monday. And after seeing the doc and doing some lab work the other day, he decided that its time to deliver the baby. I'm still doing about the same, but since things are moving along and the baby is looking great, we've all decided that we can just go ahead with everything. So, I am going in on Monday to be induced! :) I am excited! Especially that I will only have to be so big and uncomfortable for 2 more days! I will try and keep people updated, and get some pictures up as soon as I can. :)

Tree Climbing

On Saturday Merrill drove up to Brigham City to compete in a tree climbing competition. He competed against 26 other professional tree climbers. They had 5 different climbing events. This was Merrills first time in this competition. He got 12th place. He did better than a lot of guys that have been doing this for years. I wasn't able to go (due to my bed rest and all), so there wasn't anyone there to get pictures for him, but he did land a spot in the deseret news. There is a picture of him lowering a dummy from the tree. You can't actually tell that its him, but it is. And there is an article telling all about the event. Check it out, he is picture #10; http://www.deseretnews.com/photo/gallery/story/1,0000,705307624,00.html
