The kids and I decided that we wanted to visit some family in Texas this summer. We also had a reunion in Utah and wanted to try to visit my family in Oregon before the end of summer. We ended up doing it all in one long trip. We left on June 16th. The kids were excited about the upcoming adventures, not so much excited about the long car rides!
First stop, Texas!
First we went to Lubbok, TX. Where my Sister-in-law Sharon lives! We stayed 2 nights and then headed to Dallas, TX. Sharon had just moved from the area and still had things at their old house, so she rode along with us and rented a uhaul and we loaded up the rest of her things and she headed back to Lubbock.
Dallas was very hot and humid and Jarret got thirsty helping us load the truck, and in an empty house, you don't have many options for getting a drink of water.
The we headed to my cousin Lindays house! More cousins to play with and watch netflix with!
We found some yummy dessert places. This is a Chocolate Cheesecake Turtle Cupcake (or something like that) it was Amazing!
We also went to the Pie Emporium and got a slice of the biggest apple pie that I've ever seen. Delicious!
The kids got ice cream while we ate our pie!
Texas souvenir! A big Texas mug!
Jarret got to have a visit with our favorite Dentist, Dr. France! ;)
Park Fun!
We went to the pool everyday! The kids loved it. Darci overcame here fear of underwater and was pretty much swimming around and doing flips under the water the entire time!
One day we took snacks to the pool. Jarret was more interested in eating the snacks than being in the pool.
And then he dumped a bucket of water on his head!
We got to have a night out at a dinner for a Campaign kick-off!
We also got to go visit Merrill's Grandma who lives north of Dallas. Sadly I didn't get any pictures. Since we'd never been to Texas before, there hasn't been many opportunities to see her. We last saw her when Darci was 18 months, so Jarret had never met her. So it was so great to be able to go see her!
After a week in Dallas we headed back to Lubbock for a few more days!
And more swimming!
A view of the Lubbock Temple and a cute girl trying to help Mommy!
In front of the Buddy Holly museum, which was next to where we parked to go to the farmers market! Could not get a picture with all of them looking.
